WELCOME TO THE HEALTH RESORT OF INOWROCŁAW
Inowrocław, the nominal capital of Western Kujawy, is one of the largest
towns of the Kujawsko-Pomorskie Province. It is situated on the Piast
Route, close to water courses and the historical settlement of
Ascaucalis – a Roman era trade emporium of the Amber Trail. The River
Noteć flows through the southern part of the town, connecting it with
the Odra and Vistula basins. Inowrocław attempts to combine the
functions of a health resort, based on an extensive system of
sanatoriums, with those of an economic centre, making use of the rich
resources – chiefly rock salt beds – found under the town and in its
outskirts. The latter makes it often called a "city on salt".
In 2005 and 2006 Inowrocław was a prize-winning participant at the Sixth
and the Seventh National Ecological Contest respectively, in the
category of a Green Commune. According to a 2004 survey carried out by
“Wprost” magazine, Inowrocław was put on a Top 100 List of the Best
Places to Live in Poland. In 2005 the city was ranked 8 out of 75 on the
scoreboard of Polish health resorts. Such a high position was scored
thanks to the quality of therapeutic materials (e.g. water and peloids),
the natural medicine support of the spa hospital and pump room, the
number of indoor and outdoor swimming pools, parks, gardens, fountains,
promenades, as well as the separation of the spa quarter from the
municipal infrastructure, the amount and quality of entertainment
facilities and the cultural offer.
The town's 130-year-long spa tradition is a chief asset of Inowrocław.
At present, the local sanatoriums are modern facilities offering a wide
range of treatment. There are about 1,600 accommodation places
altogether. Every year nearly 25,000 patients and spa clients come here
for treatment and rehabilitation in the scope of cardiology,
rheumatology, gastroenterology and motor system disorders. The spa
facilities offer several dozen types of therapeutic treatment. As well
as rehabilitation stays, the sanatoriums provide commercial stays for
holidaymakers, who can make use of the rehabilitation and therapeutic
resources, and the so-called business tourists. Staff-training
companies, businesses and institutions that would like to organise
conferences and training courses in the spa facilities can use the
convenience of hotel accommodation and conference rooms. Well-equipped
facilities, qualified personnel and a wide range of services, such as
hairdressing and beauty salons, solariums, games rooms, cafes and
libraries, enjoy great popularity with visitors. Apart from the spa,
which is essentially oriented at the provision of therapeutic treatment,
there is a fitness recovery centre at the Hotel Park. The centre offers
body and beauty care treatments, which include the use of chocolate and
honey, as well as relaxation treatments, such as massages with music
therapy and ayurvedic solutions to improve the psychological condition.
The spa facilities, picturesque ponds and a band shell, where outdoor
concerts are often staged, are all situated in the big Park Solankowy
(literally a brine park). The park has been arranged as a French garden
and stretches out over the area of 55 hectares. Its western part
accommodates brine graduation towers, a beautiful structure made of wood
and blackthorn and used for therapeutic inhalation purposes. It is
Poland's second structure of this kind in terms of size and third in
terms of age. An observation deck on the top of the towers runs the
whole length of it and provides a nice panorama of the park.
